Landscaping Services
Lawn and Garden Edging
Lawn edging is one of our landscaping services that involves creating a distinct boundary between the lawn or garden and other areas of the landscape, such as driveways, sidewalks, flowerbeds, and other garden beds. The purpose of the edging is to give a nice clean and polished look to the landscape, while also keeping grass and other plants from encroaching on other areas of the landscape. When it comes to installing lawn edging, the process can vary depending on the type of material you choose. For example, brick or stone edging will require digging a trench and filling it with either gravel or concrete, while metal or plastic edging can be installed by simply staking it into the ground. These differences are the primary determinant factor when it comes to price. There are many different types and methods to lawn and garden edging, each with their own unique benefits and drawbacks. Some popular options include:
Angled trench: This is the simplest, most cost effective method to create a distinct line between different landscapes. This is done with either an edging tool or shovel. We simply dig out a nice clean line surrounding the grass or garden. It is easy to maintain with a weed wacker, and will sometimes need to be fixed up every couple years.
Brick or stone: Brick or stone edging can add a classic and timeless look to the landscape. These materials are durable and long-lasting, and they can be used to create a variety of different designs and patterns. However, they can be quite heavy and difficult to install, and they can be costly as well.
Metal: Metal edging is a popular choice for modern or contemporary landscapes. It's available in a variety of different colors and finishes, and it's lightweight and easy to install. Metal edging is also durable and long-lasting, but it can be quite expensive.
Plastic: Plastic edging is a budget-friendly option that is easy to install. It's available in a variety of different colors, and it can be cut to fit any shape or size. However, plastic edging is not as durable as other materials and it may not last as long.
Wood: Wood edging is a natural and rustic option that can add warmth and character to the landscape. It's available in a variety of different types of wood, such as cedar and redwood, and it's easy to install. However, wood edging can be prone to rot and decay if not properly maintained.

Hedge Trimming
Hedge trimming is an essential landscaping service that helps keep your property looking neat and tidy. Hedges are usually used as a border to create a privacy barrier and can look very nice, but they do require regular maintenance to keep them looking their best. One of the benefits of hedge trimming is that it helps promote healthy growth. By removing the dead or diseased branches, you can encourage new growth, which will make the hedge look fuller and more vibrant. This is done by using tools like shears, hedge clippers, and electric trimmers, and is typically done in the late spring or early summer, but can be done any time of the year, depending on the species and desired shape. Hedge trimming can be a time consuming and labor intensive task, and is often best to hire a professional to do the job.
Power Washing
Power washing, also known as pressure cleaning, is an effective way to remove dirt, grime, mildew, and other buildup from a variety of surfaces like decks, patios, sidewalks, driveways, and the exterior of homes. By removing potentially years of buildup, power washing leaves surfaces clean, and looking like new. It can also increase the lifespan of various surfaces. Dirt, grime, and other buildups can cause wear and tear on surfaces, leading to costly repairs or replacements. With proper cleaning, you can extend the life of these surfaces, saving you money in the long run. Power washing is a great service to improve the overall appearance of your property and increase the lifespan of different surfaces while being environmentally friendly and cost effective.
Concrete Sealing
Concrete driveways, walkways, and patios are a big investment in your landscaping, and if maintained, cleaned, and sealed regularly can drastically improve the overall appearance of your whole property. The process of sealing concrete involves cleaning the surface of the concret to remove any dirt, grime, or other contaminants using a high pressure power washer and/or detergent solution. Once thoroughly cleaned, the surface is allowed to dry completely. The sealer is then applied with either a sprayer or roller/brush. Depending on the surface and type of concrete, the sealer is either water-based or solvent based. Once applied the sealer must be allowed to dry and cure into the concrete before any foot of vehicle traffic is allowed on the surface. Once done, you can enjoy your beautified concrete area knowing it's protected for 2-3 years. Applying a protective coating to concrete surfaces can provide:
Protection from water: Sealing concrete helps to prevent water from penetrating the surface, which can cause damage to the concrete and lead to the growth of mold and mildew.
Protection from chemicals: Concrete sealing can also protect the surface from damage caused by chemicals, such as acids and salts, which can eat away at the concrete.
Protection from stains: A good sealant will help protect your concrete from potentially staining chemicals on the driveway or walkway.
Enhanced appearance: Sealing concrete can also enhance the appearance of the surface, making it look newer and more attractive.
Increased durability: Sealing concrete can extend the life of the surface by protecting it from damage and deterioration.

Interlock and Paver Installation
As a professional landscaping company, we specialize in providing high quality interlock and paver installation services for patios and walkways. Interlocking pavers are a popular choice for outdoor spaces as they offer a durable, low maintenance and attractive alternative to traditional concrete or asphalt surfaces. Our team of experienced landscapers will work with you to design and install a patio or walkway that meets your specific needs and preferences to give you a stunning addition to your property’s landscape.
The process of installing interlock or pavers begins with a thorough site preparation. This includes removing any existing grass or other vegetation, and digging out at least 6 inches. Depending on the scope of the project, this will be done either manually or with heavy equipment like a mini excavator. Our team will take all the necessary precautions to protect your existing landscaping and to minimize disruption to your property process during this process. Once this is completed we will install a layer of crushed rock and gravel as the base for the interlocking pavers, and create proper grade and level, ensuring proper drainage to prevent water from pooling on the surface of the patio or walkway. A plate compactor will then be run over the area to properly compact the crushed rock and gravel, creating a proper foundation for the interlocking pavers.
To fine tune the level and grade of the pavers, as well as ensure a flat even surface, we will then add a 1 to 2 inch layer of screening, which is a mixture of sand and finely crushed rock. This helps hold the pavers in place to provide a smooth surface for walking or driving on. Next is the installation of the interlocking pavers. We have a wide variety of paver options available, including different colors, styles, and sizes. We will work with you to choose the perfect pavers for your patio or walkway. The pavers will be tightly packed together to minimize gaps, and will be tapped into place with a rubber mallet to ensure they are level and stable.
After the pavers are installed, the final step is to fill the joints between the pavers with polymeric sand. This helps to keep the pavers in place, prevent heaving and shifting in the winter, and prevent weeds or other plants from growing between the pavers. The polymeric sand is also resistant to erosion and can help prevent water from pooling on the surface. Once the sand is done, your patio or walkway is ready to use. As usual, we take pride in providing high quality work, and excellent customer service, and we will work with you to make sure that you are completely satisfied with the final result. With proper installation and regular maintenance, interlocking pavers can last many years and will provide a beautiful, functional space that will last for years to come. Polymeric Sand
Another one of our most popular surfaces is installing polymeric sand for interlocking pavers in walkways, patios, and driveways. This innovative product is crucial in proper installation and maintenance of interlocking pavers, such as brick, stone, and concrete pavers. Polymeric sand is a specialized mixture of fine sands, pigments, and a water-activated polymer. When it is installed and activated with water, the polymer binds the sand particles together, forming a strong and durable joint between the pavers. This helps to prevent the growth of weeds and insects, while also providing a stable and attractive surface. Another key benefit of polymeric sand is its ability to harden and stabilize the surface of the interlocking pavers, making it resistant to erosion and movement, which is especially important with our climate here in southern Ontario.
This installation process is fairly straightforward. It begins with preparing the surface of the pavers, usually by using a power washer. This ensures that the surface is cleaned properly, and that all the joints between the stones are thoroughly cleaned out. Properly cleaning out all the joints allows for proper application of the new sand, and prevents it from cracking and falling out. Once preparation is done, the polymeric sand is swept into all the joints evenly and the surface is blown off using a power blower. The surface is then misted with water. The water activates the polymer in the sand, which then hardens and binds the sand particles together. This process is called curing. Once dry, your space is ready for use. Cedar Tree Planting
For several years now, planting cedar trees has become very popular for both residential and commercial properties. Cedars are a popular choice for landscaping due to their unique look, hardiness, and low maintenance requirements. They are a great way to add privacy, shade, and beauty to any outdoor space. Once we visit your property for a consultation, we will select the right species for your property and what function you are looking to get from the planting. There are many different species of cedar, some are great for privacy hedges, whereas some are meant to be used as a specimen tree to create a focal point in your landscaping. This will also take into consideration factors such as sunlight, soil condition, and any existing landscaping features.
To prepare the soil for planting we will remove any debris, create the garden bed to be planted in if necessary, and add any necessary soil amendments if needed to ensure the cedar has the best possible chance of thriving. We use high quality cedar tree saplings that have been grown in nurseries to ensure that they are healthy and strong. Cedars are known for their durability and low maintenance, but it's important to note that they do require some care and attention to keep them looking their best. Our team is also able to provide maintenance if requested to ensure your newly planted trees stay healthy and beautiful year-round. If you're looking to add the beauty and benefits of cedar trees, or any other type of tree as well, contact us today to schedule an appointment and we will give you your free quote for this property enhancing service.
